Hamble Aquatics spread themselves far and wide last weekend.

Fifteen of their youngsters competed in the first-ever Swindon Tigersharks two-day A-Grade open meet, and 12, who won 27 medals between them, at the Quays on Sunday in City of Southampton's Sprint meet.

In Swindon, up against many of Wiltshire's finest swimmers, Hamble more than made up in quality what they lacked in quantity.

In 56 individual swims, 43 resulted in personal best times and brought 12 gold medals, ten silvers and 14 bronze.

Most notable displays included four golds by Joanna Jeffcoate (12 yrs) - including the 200m backstroke in a national qualifying time of 2.33.57. Michelle Hooper (13 yrs) took two fourth places and four golds, including 100m and 200m breaststroke (1.23.86 and 2.57.38) and the 100m and 200m backstroke (1.14.67 and 2.38.38), improving her Southern Counties qualifying times.

Damian Johns, 15, took gold in his 200m breaststroke (2.42.72), Mathew Hooper, 16, in his 100m backstroke and Kerry Griggs, 14, in the 100m butterfly (1.17.57).

In Southampton on Sunday the success continued for Keiron Carroll, 13, and Tamsyn Ryan, 10. Carroll won gold in the 50m backstroke (32.68), silver in the butterfly (32.19) and freestyle (28.14) and bronze in the IM (1.13.27). Ryan won bronze in the 50m backstroke in 39:40 while Charlotte Osman, 15, was third in the breaststroke (40.76).
