ORGANISERS of a huge music donation campaign are driving ahead in their bid to raise cash for good causes.

They are hitting the road to pick up the scores of CDs, tapes and vinyl that has been collected across the city for the past three weeks.

People are urged to keep the donations to Oxfam's Portswood Music Store rock and rolling in.

Outer Shirley acting regeneration chief Don Thomas became Seventies Greek crooner Demis Roussos when he launched the first pick-up run.

He has also helped co-ordinate a collection point at Coxford Community Centre, where scores of donations have been handed over.

The Music 4 Life campaign was launched by the shop, backed by the Daily Echo, after its runaway success since it opened last summer.

Bosses have struggled to keep up stock levels because of the huge demand from music lovers.

Co-ordinator Richard Chorley, said: "We are delighted with the way things have gone so far and really pleased with the response we've had.

"We will now be available to pick up any collections people can give us and drive to them to collect it.

"But we are still hoping even more people will join in and hand over any music they can "

Donations can also be dropped off any time at The Vicarage, St Christopher's Church, Hinkler Road, Thornhill, and at The Coxford Community Centre, Olive Road, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 5.30pm to 10pm.
