Ian Mancey warmed up for Winchester City's FA Vase date at Burgess Hill by scoring for the 12th match in succession - then had stitches put in a head wound.

Mancey was replaced after 25 minutes last night, having suffered a deep cut during a clash of heads shortly after the kick off.

He played on with a bandaged head until he rolled home Winchester's third midway through the first half - his 17th goal in 14 games for the club.

And the former Fleet striker will be fit to face Sussex County League leaders Burgess Hill on Saturday, when a quarter final place is at stake for Vase new boys City.

Manager Neil Hards said: "We wanted Mancey to keep his run going but it was just as a precaution that we took him off. He'll be fine for Saturday.

"Our only injury worry is centre back Dave Goss, who is struggling with a thigh strain, he's only 50/50."

Bottom of the table Fawley were 2-0 down after just nine minutes last night, having suffered a 12-0 defeat at Vosper Thornycroft three days earlier.

Left-back Matthew Bicknell scored both on his way to his first hat-trick of the season.

He opened the scoring after four minutes, tapping home an Andy Forbes cross at the far post, and five minutes later he scored the first of two penalties after Forbes had been brought down.

Midfielder Lloyd Webber drilled home the fourth from 20 yards and Gary Green headed home the fifth from close range after Mark Blake had crossed to the far post.

But Fawley's in-form striker Luke Atkinson crashed home a brilliant 25 yard free-kick on 40 minutes and the Oilers only conceded two more in the second half, having conceded nine in the second period at Vospers.

Bicknell completed his hat-trick after being upended in the area on the hour and former Saint Mark Blake completed the scoring with his first of the season four minutes later - a textbook header at the near post from Bicknell's corner

It was City's eighth successive league and cup win, a run dating back to their Hampshire Senior Cup defeat at Bashley six weeks ago.

And when they play the return fixture against Fawley at Long Lane next week, they will be hoping to make it a perfect ten.

Hards added: "I'm very surprised that Fawley lost 12-0 on Saturday.

"They showed plenty of commitment and didn't fold like a lot of sides do when they come here."
