BOATBUILDING apprentices in Fareham will have hands on experience in the art of traditional restoration after a yacht was bought for them to practise their skills on.
The 43-ft wooden ocean racer named Fandango will help train marine apprentices at ITE's Blackbrook training centre.
The vessel will help the training company provide a range of NVQ subjects based around boatbuilding and maintenance with the aim of making the yacht seaworthy within three years.
A spokesman said: "Many of our apprentices work in boatyards which specialise in modern, hi-tech materials and they still need to learn the basic skills of wooden boatbuilding and repair."
