Vosper Thornycroft hammered 12 goals past bottom of the table Fawley - including nine in the second half.

Dave Diaper's side took 22 minutes to take the lead through Andy Turner and strike pair Mike Spinney and Gary Male added the first of their hauls before the break.

Male finished with a double hat-trick and Spinney ended the afternoon with four.

Martin Cornwall scored the other but Diaper reckons his side could have finished with more.

He joked: "Andy Turner missed a sitter late on but I can't complain. The lads really deserved it. Fawley started off very well, they were very quick and their goalkeeper played well, but after we scored it was a question of how many."

Hythe's poor run continued with a 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth Royal Navy.

Hythe lost to Fawley in midweek and were 2-0 down on Saturday, before a 75th minute individual goal from Keith Darling set up an exciting finish.

Darling hit the post with two minutes left but Hythe left Portsmouth pointless.

Boss Dave Cox said: "It wasn't a bad result considering (striker) Chris Watts could now be out for the rest of the season.

"He was on the receiving end of a terrible tackle and I also lost Paul Cox, our goalkeeper, so it was lucky that we had a substitute keeper in Dennis Wheeler on the bench."

East Cowes Vics scored twice in the last seven minutes to end a forgettable week for Lymington Town.

Lymington were leading 2-1 before Russell Holbrook equalised with a 20-yard strike from brother Adam's lay-off.

Then Liam Geering scored in the last minute against unlucky Lymington, who had conceded an equaliser seven minutes into injury time against Poole Town in midweek.

Vics boss Tony Newman said: "They really made us work hard. Our passing was poor and I've gone even greyer."

Ringwood lost 1-0 at home to Horndean in the only other Premier Division game of the afternoon - the five other scheduled matches fell victim to the weather.
