A business name on the south coast dating back 120 years has returned to business after a ribbon-cutting by the two-year-old descendant of a former director.
Williamson & Treadgold was relaunched with a helping hand from young Jack Ramsden, great-grandson and namesake of former director Jack Ramsden.
At its peak the company had more than 20 stores spanning an area stretching from Fawley to Torquay, but merged with Misselbrook & Weston to form Southampton-based Kelsall's Food Stores in 1964.
Young Jack is the son of Bournemouth councillor Tony Ramsden who has relaunched Williamson & Treadgold in Poole High Street, creating about 15 jobs.
Williamson & Treadgold is trading as a Spar shop, albeit one carrying premium product lines to reflect W&T's heritage.
A second store is planned for Bournemouth town centre with hopes that the number of outlets will expand to double figures within five years.
Williamson & Treadgold first traded in Bournemouth in 1882.
