BASINGSTOKE and Deane Borough Council has won a regional award from the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
The RTPI awards recognise the diversity of planning achievement, whether urban or rural, large or small in scale, new development or regeneration and whether promoted by the public, private or community sectors.
The awards look beyond purely physical results to recognise innovative plans, process, techniques, programmes of public involvement, information systems and public service improvements.
The council received its award in the planning and process and technology category in recognition of the high standard of public consultation, which was carried out as part of the preparation of the borough's draft Local Plan.
Forward planning manager Andy Blaxland received the award from Jonathon Porritt CBE, on behalf of the council's forward planning team during the ceremony held at Oxford Brookes University.
