JOHN Hanson 'D' finally came good in the Andover & District Table Tennis League last week when they completely outplayed the luckless Enham 'A' side - a complete reversal of the previous meeting between the two first division teams.

Rahib Ali, Mark Pettman and Daniel Orchard recorded a well deserved 8 - 2 victory to treble their points tally this season. Along with team-mate Lee Stretch they have proved themselves capable of taking on and beating some of the league's more experienced players. The only resistance came from Enham's Terry Greenwood with two wins and, although Lionel Whyton took both Ali and Orchard to a third leg, he had no real answer to their superb hitting.

Another somewhat surprising result came from the encounter between second place Figheldean 'B'' and Wolversdene 'A'.

The latter's Paul Humphrey set the pace with a good win over the strong Dave Milner, coming back from 21-13 down in the first leg to win 21-17 in the third. The presence of the experienced Tony Brown always makes an impact and he duly took all three of his games fairly easily, although he was made to work for his 20-22, 21-12, 21-13 win over Paul Faircloth, Humphrey picked up win another in the final game and Dave Porter recorded two for the village side for the match to finish in a 5-5 draw.

Hanson 'A' duo Steve Rollason and Daniel Geary were both unbeaten in the 7-3 defeat of Philip & Tacey while league leaders, Figheldean 'A' go from strength to strength with a 9 - 1 win over Wolversdene 'B'.

Only two games appear to have been played in division two last week and both involved the Hanson 'C' and 'F' sides.

In a re-arranged game Michael Phillips and Roy Horner scored three apiece in a comfortable 9-1 victory for the 'C' team, but in the scheduled match Horner was replaced by Jill Cook and thanks to another superb hat trick from Phillips the 'C' side scraped through 6-4 victors.
