OVERTON Harriers' promising junior Aaron Harris recently represented Hampshire under-15 boys in the annual Southern Counties Cross Country Championships at Banbury where he finished 14th and was second counter for Hants over a flat but heavy 4.5km parkland course.

The following day a small but determined group from the village club made the short trip to compete in the annual Tadley Runners Christmas cross country race over a testing 5.3 miles course.

Overton's British international duathlete Ian Ford was first in the veterans category and cross country specialist Mark Simcox was sixth, despite having to stop and retrieve a lost shoe.

Gavin Duncan was 20th and Geoff Cloke 50th whilst Audra Dennison won the women's race and, together with Ford and Simcox, won the team prize.

At the the recent Southern Counties Veterans Championships in Bournemouth, Overton's Wales international Cath Wheeler was third in the over-35 category and Liz Sandal-Ball was also third in the over-45 category whilst in the men's race Dave Vosser completed the 9km course in 33:48s, Martin Crawshaw in 36:25s and Richard Francis in 40:00s.
