BASINGSTOKE Town had to come from behind twice at Maidenhead United yesterday to secure a hard-earned Ryman League Premier Division point in a 2-2 draw at York Road.

'Stoke boss Ernie Howe said: "We played very well and had lots of posession but our trait this season is that we keep on conceding sloppy goals.

"As confident as I am that we'll score goals, I know that we are likely to let them in at the other end as well.

"I felt that we dominated the game immediately after going 1-0 and 2-1 down, but it's very frustrating to keep on giving goals away especially when they are basic errors," he added.

Howe would have been heartened by the performance of Max Rook who scored both 'Stoke goals - his first goals for the north Hampshire club.

After Maidenhead had taken an early lead, Rook opened his account on the half-hour mark as he worked a one-two with Neville Roach before coolly slotting the ball past the home 'keeper.

His second equaliser came ten minutes from time when netted from 18 yards.

There's no rest for Howe's men who entertain Grays Athletic in Premier Division action at the Camrose Ground tomorrow (3pm).

Havant & Waterlooville's Dr Martens' Premier Division league clash at Hastings was rained off and their next scheduled league action is against Hednesford at Westleigh Park tomorrow (3pm).
