Fareham are off the foot of the South Premier League table after scoring twice in the last six minutes to salvage a 3-3 draw with fourth-placed Richmond at Henry Cort School.

Coach Steve Godwin rang the changes after the relegation-threatened Bath Lane club had leaked 12 goals in the past two matches.

"We effectively decided to start our season again by revamping the side and changing our tactics," Godwin explained.

"Generally speaking, we played a lot better and certainly didn't look like a bottom of the table side."

Nonetheless, Fareham chose the difficult route to glean only their fifth point in nine matches - Richmond beating the impressive Micky Warriner twice in the opening stages before Aaron Walker, pictured, set off on a solo run to cut the deficit.

When Richmond made it 3-1 from a soft penalty corner strike eight minutes from time, it looked all up for Fareham.

But Godwin's men hit back with Declan Colclough making it 3-2 from a penalty flick and Walker bagging a late equaliser after Sam Howard's shot had been saved.

Wimbledon's 3-0 win over Eastcote allowed Fareham to claw away from bottom place and move to within three points of last season's champions, City of Portsmouth, who crashed 6-2 at title chasing Old Georgians at Weybridge.
