FROM Newcastle to the Midlands, it's a regional pick'n'mix at Jongleurs tonight.

The latest comedy showcase features a quartet of Britain's finest funnymen, including Gavin Webster - described as "Newcastle's best export since Brown Ale" - down-to-earth Dudley-ite Sean Percival, and Mark Hurst, billed as an "affectionate, life-enhancing and hilarious" Yorkshireman.

Hurst is one of Jongleurs' best-loved regular performers, his round-the-houses anecdotal approach charming audiences all over the country.

Despite the occasional TV appearance, Hurst remains true to his stand-up roots, preferring the buzz of a live performance to the more detached processes of the small screen.

Jongleurs is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for a Friday or Saturday night out, with its heady combination of comedy and post-show dancing.

In the last 19 years, it has also launched the careers of some of Britain's greatest comic talents, including Rory Bremner, Jack Dee, Al Murray and Graham Norton.

Jongleurs Comedy Club, GunWharf Quays, Portsmouth, September 6 & 7. Performance: 7.30pm (dancing until 2am). Tickets: £12. Box office: 0870 78 70707.
