Supporters are needed to help build up cycle route networks around Winchester.

Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, is responsible for the national cycle network, covering 6,500 miles of the UK.

The charity supports hundreds of "safe route to school" initiatives, and plans to build 10,000 miles of cycle paths in the next three years.

But supporters are needed in Winchester to help the charity continue its work. Every pound received in donations, say organisers, helps release up to £26 which goes straight into a new stretch of cycle route, or towards a safe route to school scheme.

Everyone who becomes a regular supporter will receive free maps of cycle paths around Winchester and updates on city schemes.
