VERNHAM Dean kicked off the new season with what could be one of the biggest wins in the history of the Andover & District Sunday League (ADSL) – overwhelming an under strength Swan Hill 23-1!
Lee Daubney led the way for Jon Warne’s village side in Sunday’s third division match with an incredible 10 goals and there was also a double hat-trick from Chris Warne in the second half. Vernham led 7-0 at the break and their other scorers were new signing Paul Powley (2), Robbie Ablett, Guy Terry, Richard Derbyshire, Colin Hannah and Mark Sturgess.
The Andover & District League start their new season this Saturday and already fixtures secretary Kevin Willey has had to juggle the fixtures following the withdrawal of last season’s division two champions Ram Inn.
