HAVANT & Waterlooville must wait to see if their worst fears are realised about their prolific marksman James Taylor.

The Southampton-based England semi-professional international was stretchered off to hospital with a suspected broken leg on Tuesday night following an accidental collision with ex-Hawks goalkeeper Paul Nicholls, now of Chelmsford City.

But the leg has ballooned so much that no one can say for certain just how bad the injury is. H&W co-boss Mick Jenkins said: "They can't X-ray it at the moment because it's so swollen, but hopefully it's not too bad. He's got to keep the leg elevated for a couple of days and wait for the swelling to go down."

The suspicion is that Taylor has a crack in the bone, but it is not a fully-fledged fracture. Either way, he is likely to be out of the side for the foreseeable future.

l The ongoing transfer saga of Jimmy Anderson has taken another twist with AFC Newbury becoming the latest club to enquire after the highly-rated Brockenhurst midfielder, writes Karenza Morton.

The high-flying Wessex Leaguers, who recently tied up a £120,000 sponsorship deal with Vodaphone, are believed to have offered the £2,000 asking price for Anderson, who was transfer-listed at his own request in May.

But Brock boss Peter Moore believes the Southampton-based geologist, a £2,000 capture from Bash in September 2001, will remain a Badger for a while yet.

Moore said: "Jimmy's not going anywhere, not if I say no. When I was away, Jimmy told my assistant Dave Hukin he was enjoying it at the moment and didn't want to go anywhere. Saying that, he said he wasn't available for the FA Cup game on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see if he is available for the next one.

"Newbury have made an enquiry and are prepared to pay the money, but we're not interested in releasing him."
