The maiden voyage of Southampton megaliner, Queen Mary 2 is already a sail-away sell-out and the ship is not even due into port until December of next year.

The £534m ship will be the largest, longest, tallest, widest and most luxurious ocean liner ever constructed when she leaves on her maiden voyage from Southampton to Florida in January, 2004.

Owners, Cunard is also reporting great interest from the public in the last transatlantic season of Queen Elizabeth 2.

A company spokesman said: "QE2 is an icon, the embodiment of a gracious style of travel. The 2003 transatlantic season offers a last chance to cross the Atlantic on a legend."

Once QM2 takes over the transatlantic route in 2004, QE2 will be based in Southampton offering a variety of cruises and her traditional annual round-the-world voyage.

The QM2 maiden voyage is a 14-day cruise from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, calling at Madeira, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Barbados and St Thomas.

QM2 is currently under construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in France.
