KIND-hearted Ludgershall businessman Ray Cutting has presented the elderly Andover victim of a mugging with a bouquet of flowers and £50 to replace the cash stolen in the attack.

Mrs Dorothy Goffe, aged 81, who lives in Vigo Road with her daughter, Mrs Rita Carter, was still recovering from the effects of her ordeal, in which she was pushed to the floor.

She thanked Mr Cutting for his kindness and said she was feeling better, although she was still shaken after a boy and girl in their teens stole her handbag.

Mr Cutting, who runs Crown Garage Car Sales, decided to surprise Mrs Goffe with the gifts because he was 'incensed by the callousness of the crime.'

"I was very touched to read of the plight of Dorothy in the Andover Advertiser and wanted to let her know that there are people who care. I hope this small gesture restores her faith in human nature and brings a smile back to her face," he added.
