PLANS to hold a re-scheduled public meeting on the proposed rehabilitation 'halfway' house for Harrow Way, Andover, have been put back to allow developers more time to finalise details.

It was hoped the follow-up meeting to an initial public forum held at the beginning of May would take place on Monday night, but developers Ashley Homes has intimated the meeting is more likely to be held in the first or second week in July.

Ashley Homes area manager for the south, Tim Susans said: "We are looking at a new date now in July but as promised, we have made no progress on the planning application since the last meeting. We are going to send a question and answer sheet out to residents as well as an invite to the next meeting, and at the moment we are finalising the details."

He added, " We want to ensure that everything runs smoothly at this next meeting."

Mr Susans admitted it was proving 'somewhat difficult' to find a suitable venue to hold the event, which is expected to attract hundreds of residents who feel the centre should not be sited in such a vulnerable area.

The controversial plans for the 16-bedroom facility first went on show on 1 May.
