FLEMING PARK moved four points clear at the top of Championship 1 in the Southampton and District BA League with a 6-2 (81-65) victory over Sports Centre.

Sports Centre started the season as title favourites but have done little to justify that tag, Roy Alford (18-14 against Russell Kemp) and Colin Thresher (20-19 against Denny Graydon) giving them their two rink success in this latest setback.

Fleming Park's heroes were Dave Moore, Luke Young, Simon Doig and skip Steve Spreadbury, who roasted Ken Prior, Gary Smith, Iain Bunday and Richard Shelley 28-10, and they were backed by the 20-17 victory of Alan Forrest over Peter Ward.

Previous leaders Old Green buckled 88-67 (7-1) to Atherley who took charge through Peter Line (31-16 against Terry Whitear), Nicky Smith (20-13 against Ken Dow) and Mike Jeffery (19-18 against Steve Dowdell). Mike Rich (20-18 against Dave Edmonds) scored the Old Green consolation.

Woolston are pinned to the foot of the table with just 3.5 points after being whitewashed 86-54 by Eastleigh Rail. Jim Wood (25-10 against Frank Hooper), Roger Cattle (20-9 against Brian Adams), Derek Walker (21-17 against Mick Milne) and Ron Stamford (20-18 against Fred Rolfe) were in winning form for the Railwaymen.

Aerostructures broke through the century barrier when thumping Lockswood by 53 shots to remain unbeaten at the head of Championship 2. Their performance included a 34-6 triumph for Chris Simmonds over Tommy Turner.

There were no Combination matches because of the Bank Holiday.
