RISING badminton star Hannah Littlecott is already making her mark on the European stage.

The 13-year-old Hamble schoolgirl was on international duty with the Great Britain team in Elmsborne, Germany at the weekend and returned home to Lowford with yet more silverware.

She and Yorkshire partner Kimberly Stevens overcame the challenge of several top-class German and Polish pairs to win the girls' under-17 doubles at the international Flora Cup competition.

Injury ruled Littlecott's usual partner out of the mixed doubles, but she formed a scratch team with German junior Robert Hinsche and still made it through to the quarter-finals.

In the singles event, the Hampshire under-15 champion also bowed out at the last eight stage, losing to top England player Lucy Milne, from Yorkshire.

Dad, Gary, said he was delighted with his daughter's performances in the event, particularly as she was competing against players several years her senior.

He added that her main aims for the rest of the season were the Rising Stars tournament at Warwick next month and the National under-15s championships at Milton Keynes in June.

Littlecott, who trains with national and county squads up to four times a week, has also helped her local Top Flight Club at the Chamberlayne Centre in Weston to win promotion to the Premier Division of the Southampton Badminton League this season.
