Jason Dodd has been ruled out of the trip to Ipswich after suffering another knee injury - following a collision with former Saints teammate Simon Charlton.

Captain Dodd has started 17 games since recovering from the knee injury he sustained back in May.

But he will miss the six-pointer at Portman Road after damaging the medial ligaments in his right knee during the goalless draw against Bolton.

Right back Dodd said: "I know when it happened. I remember colliding with Simon Charlton in the first half.

"I smacked into him but it seemed OK and I felt fine afterwards. It was only the following day when it hit me as I was going up to the shops.

"I've had a scan which showed there is a slight tear. It hurts like hell and I may miss the Middlesbrough game as well."

l Saints' under-17 team beat Millwall 2-0 at Staplewood last night in front of Gordon Strachan, thanks to goals from Andrew Surman and Andrei Pereplyotkin.

Steve Head's side rarely looked in trouble against the Lions, and took thelead after just six minutes. Surman finished off a slick move from 12 yards after Pereplyotkin had collected Jay Lucas's knock down.

Lucas saw a close range header well saved after 22 minutes. But Saints doubled the lead ten minutes later as Surman saw his 12-yard drive turned away by Millwall goalkeeper Daniel Skinner, only for Pereplyotkin to head in the loose ball.

In the second half Matt Mills brought down Alex Tiesse in the penalty area but Gareth Williams denied Peter Sweeney from the penalty, allowing Saints to control the remainder of the game and run out comfortable winners.
