ALTHOUGH the Andover club has suffered with disqualifications at recent galas they seem to have finally sorted the problems out in their last Speedo League outing of the season at Aldershot.

Only two swimmers were disqualified as the town team recorded 10 first, four second and three third places out of the 50 races to finish in fifth overall out of the seven teams taking part. In addition new bests were recorded in four of the individual events and a further 10 in the relays.

In the 4x25m relays the senior girls open team of Emma Oliver, Sally Prior, Catherine Shearn and Laura Crabb came home a splendid second in the medley race, with Emma clocking a new PB for the backstroke leg, while the men's team that won their race with seconds to spare had 15-year-olds Adam Hayter and Simon Taylor teaming up with Martyn Price and Gordon Smith, with Hayter and Smith both improving on their times.

The under-13's girls team of Charlotte Crosby, Virginia Allen-Walker, Charlotte Towerton and Amy Sambell were also in good form when winning their medley and came second in the freestyle race after all four girls clocking new PB's in both event.

In the individual races Sally Prior won the women's open 4x25m medley and Martyn Price the men's race while in the remaining open events Emma Oliver cruised to victory in the 100m backstroke and Sally Prior topped the podium again after winning the 100m breaststroke. There was also a second win for Martyn Price and Adam Hayter in their respective 100m breaststroke and backstroke races while Laura Crabb and Gordon Smith gained more valuable points by finishing second in their respective 100m freestyle races. Adam Hayter went also complete another victory when winning the boy under-15's 100m backstroke and Charlotte Crosby was another Andover winner in the girls under-13's backstroke event in a new PB of 1:22.03s.

Other notable individual swims came from Virginia Allen-Walker, Leanne Renshaw and Charlotte Towerton to finish third in their respective 100m breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle races.

During the gala PB's were also posted by Geroge Holder, James McEwen, Millie Cook, Samantha Crosby, Lauren Webb, Jack Bayliss, Christopher Martin, Callum Hurst, Robert Lovelock, Emily Webb, Gareth Roberts, Kerry Renshaw and Catherine Shearn.

Gala result: 1st Isle of Wight 256pts, 2nd Gosport 238pts, 3rd Worthing 234pts, 4th Basingstoke 201pts, 5th Andover 179pts, 6th Feltham 153pts, 7th Southampton 119ps.
