Basingstoke Bison 7 Invicta Dynamos 4

BASINGSTOKE Bison recorded their first home win of the season but far too often made defensive errors to allow visitors Invicta Dynamos to score.

The plus point of the game was once again the all-British line of Jake Armstrong, Richard Hargreaves and Ryan Aldridge, who looked on fire in a game the home side dominated without killing off their opponents.

Bison coach Charlie Colon said: "It was not a pretty win and we will have to work on our defensive zone.

"I think we got sucked down to their level tonight and we created a lot offensive chances. When they broke out, it came as a shock."

That was true of the first goal. After good Bison pressure, it was Invicta who scored as their man-of-the-match Elliot Andrews converted a Duane Ward cross at 6:10.

The Wella-backed side hit back as Bison man-of-the-match Jake Armstrong touched home a Jimmy Andersson shot and then Mike Ellis scored a nice solo goal when sent clear by a defence-splitting pass from Matt Cote.

Having outshot the visitors 18-1 in the first period, the Bison extended their lead through Cote scoring from the blue line, only for Kevin Parrish, from the right wing, to fire Invicta back into the contest at 25:06.

The goal of the game followed three minutes later as Richard Hargreaves scored a super solo goal. He skated down the right wing and beat three players before planting the puck in the roof of the net.

The Bison made it 5-2 as Andersson had a simple tap-in from close-range after Dru Burgess had twice been denied by the 'keepers pads.

Just 14 seconds into the final session, Sean Clement was sent to the sin-bin but it was Invicta who scored 24 seconds later as a mis-understanding between Neil Liddiard and Chris Brant allowed Ward to skate in unchallenged and net.

On the same powerplay, Ward was set free by Matt Beveridge but Stephen Foster made the save.
