With a helping hand from Bashley (Rydal), BAT Sports could find themselves in a powerful position at the top of the Southern Electric ECB Premier League tomorrow evening.

BAT, effectively three points ahead of Havant with six games to go, have what looks a home banker against basement boys Hungerford at Southern Gardens, 11.30.

Reigning champions Havant, whose match against BAT on August 18 could decide the title, face a potentially stiffer test at third-placed Bashley.

"It would be handy if Bashley could draw or perhaps even beat Havant, but we are not counting our chickens.

"We've got to beat Hungerford first. Any help Bashley can give us will be a bonus," said BAT captain Dave Banks.

BAT, who have won all six of the all-day matches they have completed, make their first team change for weeks, with Hampshire under-16 batsman Graham Noble called up to replace Mark Page, who has cracked two ribs.

New ball duo Dan Goldstraw and Richard Taylor, each with 27 wickets, are in form for BAT. Left-hander Damien Shirazi, with 411 runs this summer, will be looking to impress following his selection for England South against the West Indies under-19s at Arundel next week.

Hungerford, who have lost eight of their 11 matches, are not expected to challenge BAT, especially with opener Toby Radford (back) ruled out for the rest of the season.

Havant expect to send a full strength team to Bashley (Rydal), 25 points behind them in third place.

Top Havant run scorer Andrew Perry will look to capitalise on the continued absence of Kevin Nash, who is suffering from a long term hamstring problem.

Russell Rowe leads a changed South Wilts side against Burridge, who can expect a no-nonsense team talk from team manager Barry Williams before play begins at Lower Bemerton.

Williams was furious at the "depressing manner" Burridge folded against BAT last week. They were rushed out for 92 and thumped by ten wickets by the league leaders after losing the toss on a damp surface.

"It's taken me most of the week to try and come to terms with what can only be described as a 'gutless' display last week and you can rest assured a few home truths will come out before we play South Wilts," Williams said.

Simon Woodhouse, who broke a finger dropping a catch off captain Rowe's bowling in last week's defeat by Bashley, Tom Caines and Jon Chandler are absent against Burridge. Former 1st XI captain Steve Benbough and Rob Down are called up from the seconds.

Calmore Sports, going well in fourth place, trek to Liphook & Ripsley, whose New Zealand all-rounder Ben Jansen twisted his knee last week and is likely to be on the sidelines.

Dorset pair Peter Deakin and Martin Miller miss Bournemouth's visit to SEC Cup finalists Andover who, in turn, must make do without holidaying pinch hitter Tim Keighley.
