WELSHMAN Ian Preece beat off opposition from some of the south coast's top snooker players to secure the final junior Cuestars Masters event for the season.
Preece captured the under-21 title with a 3-0 win over Woking's Neil Williams in the final.
Included in the 26-strong field were Cuestars tutors Mitch Wade from Chandler's Ford, and Chris Marsh from Thatcham, all with a chance of winning cash prizes in the Dransfield Machines rankings and being seeded into the championship.
They included Matt Richards from Gosport, plus Chandler's Ford's Mark McLean and Drew Farminer.
McLean fell at the first hurdle, while Richards lost 3-2 to Stuart McKenzie from Chandler's Ford in the second round, with Farminer crashing out 3-0 to Welshman Preece.
Matthew Windsor, also from Chandler's Ford, captured the Under-15s title, seeing off Sam Groth from Gosport in the final. Groth had earlier beaten Mike Finn from Chandler's Ford 2-0 in the semi-final.
In the under-12s competition, Kyle Picketts from Croydon edged past Swindon's Lee Evans 2-1. Stewart Crosswell clinched the plate.
