League organiser and captain certainly has an affect on his Maybush team.

Meyer turned up to the Maybush late to find his side 3-0 down to Holy Family Club and heading out of the cup. No sooner had he arrived than Rob Grundy won their first game and the side went on to win 5-4.

Nursling B figured strongly in the weekly honours. P Davis hit a 118 finish and there were maximums for A Holloway and M Taylor. Dave Cross (Maybush) also hit a 180.

Bishop's Waltham Men

Bishop's Waltham may be in the middle of the county but the latest round of fixtures was awash with maximums and century-plus finishes. Maximums came from Alan Levallee (Grapes), Colin White (Sam's), Martin Hurst (Dolphin) and M Haskett (British Rail Institute).

That left nine finishes of 100 or more. Top of the pile was Neil Biddlecombe (Locks Heath) with a massive 150. R Roberts of Chamberlayne was next with 130 and there was a 126 from Dean Davies (Curdridge). Barry Stubbington hit 123, finishing with his second bull of the night. There was a finish of 112 from Stuart Buckman (Woodman) and M Rogers (Comrades). Vic Hampton hit 108 and Tony Hall 102, both players representing Grapes.

Bishop's Waltham Ladies

Sam's came within an ace of beating Woodman after fighting back from 3-1 down.

Sam's had taken the lead with a pairs win from Val Callaghan and new landlady Ann Wilds. But Woodman hit back and a victory from the Kathy Strugnell and Jan Wright pairing levelled the match. Shirley Strugnell and Gillian Coleman then gave Woodman the lead and a win from Ann Dark made it 3-2. Ann Wilds and Toni Selby pulled the Sam's level again. But they could not prevent Janet Freemantle from beating Sharon Close to earn the win for Woodman.
