GRAHAM Waters' New Street Under-18's have withdrawn from the Hampshire Youth League owing to a shortage of players. "We didn't play for 10 weeks due to the weather and some of the players lost interest," admitted Street Youth secretary Linda Richmond. "We've had difficulty fielding a side so we've had to pull out but hopefully we'll be back next season.

Ludgershall Sports Under-18's remain at the top of the county league's second division after two 5-0 wins in succession, the latest coming on Sunday when they beat Bournemouth Electric 5-0 at home with goals from Pete Mort (2), Marc Radmore, Andy McGlashen and Gareth Horner.

The previous week Glyn Young's impressive young side produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Christchurch away. Next weekend they are scheduled to play first division side Eastleigh away in the quarter-finals of the Hants County Under-18 Cup.

CK Andover Under-17's thrashed Oakley 7-1 in their third league meeting of the season to boost their PHYL title chances with the prolific Ricky Piper adding yet another hat-trick to his growing tally. He was on target once in the first half, Kevin Ripley added a further two - the first time he has scored twice in a game - and another came from Anthony Burnell.

In the second half Richard Woodley became CK's fifth scorer of the game with a bullet header from the corner and it was then left to Piper to finish things off when completing his hat-trick.

Peter Sellers RPM Under-16's after losing in the semi-final of the League Cup the previous weekend returned to league action and winning ways with a 4-2 away win against DG Athletic. With the wind at their backs in the first half, RPM led 2-0 at the break with goals from Craig Spicer and skipper Tom Eaglstone, and John Nassoori also had a penalty saved.

A spirited second half comeback by the Basingstoke side was rewarded with a goal before Chris erntsen put RPM further ahead. RPM 'keeper Shaun Marriner made an outstanding fingertip save only for DGA to score from the resulting corner but RPM player-of-the-match Spicer wrapped up the points with his second goal as RPM march on towards the first division title.

Mike Nixon's New Street Under-15's reached the final of the PHYL Leagbue Cup for the second successive season when defeating Basingstoke 3-1 at Charlton on Sunday. Street, who reached the final last season under Dean Austin, will played Calleva again in a repeat of last year's final.

Street, playing their first game for three weeks, looked like they always had a higher gear and won with two goals from Jamie Piper and another from Chris Knight.

Robbie Swayne's New Street mantained this season impressive run in both the county and league cups by winning through to the semi-finals of the League Cup with a narrow 1-0 win in a quarter-final replay against Basingstoke. It was the third meeting between two evenly matched sides and it always looked as though a single goal would decide it. Street were not at their best on a bumpy Charlton pitch but they created the two best chances of the game and took one of them.

Both defences were well on top, with Jamie Davies the pick of the home back line, but Richard Adams put a first-half effort agnonisingly wide and the stalemate remained until two minutes from the end when defender Phillip Barritt unlocked the Basingstoke defence for Jamie Coleman to steal in on the blindside to head home a late winner.

In the under-14's second division top-of-the-table clash, Andover United and Hawkfield shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller. James Webb was twice on target for United in the first half and went on to complete a deserved hat-trick in the second. John Honeybun added a fourth but Hawkfield, who had taken an early lead, came back strongly to force a draw.

Andover United Under-13's won a thrilling match 3-2 away at Newbury with Michael Sadler netting the winner. Sean Marshall cancelled out Newbury's early lead and patient approach work enabled Sadler to slot United ahead.

United were rocked when Newbury levelled just after half but Sadler was again in the right place to win the game with a well taken strike Ron Hoare's RPM Under-13's beat Hatch Warren at home in the PHYL in a remarkable game by the odd goal - in 15! James Dennison led the way for RPM with four goals, Liam Edwards hit a hat-trick and their other scorer in the 8-7 victory was player-of-the-match Dean Lucas.

RPM Under-12's shook league leaders Thatcham in the PHYL with a spirited second-half fight back that saw them draw level with two superb goals from player-of-the-match David Nassoori only for Thatcham to snatch a worthy winner 10 minutes from the end to run out 3-2 victors.

RPM Under-11's lost 6-4 to Tigers in a high-scoring PHYL League Cup semi-final on Sunday. RPM were twice in front but Tigers were always the stronger and deserved their place in the final.

Goals from Steven Grinham and Rowan May gave RPM a cracking start but Tigers turned the tables with three goals in quick succession but RPM went in at half time on level terms thanks to a second goal from Grinham.

Shane Lewis put RPM ahead again in the second half but it was a short lived lead and Tigers went on to clinch their place in the final with a further three goals.

RPM had other chances, including a solo run from James Hoyle that brought an equally good save from the visiting 'keeper, and Rowan May and Charlie Flewitt.

With all the RPM players giving their all for each other it would be unfair to select one over the rest for player-of-the-match but both sides deserve credit for the excellent spirit in which the game was played.

New Street Under-11's (sponsored by Motorvate) can again count themselves unlucky in Sunday's 1-1 home draw against a spirited Oakley. Dave Jones' Street side asked all the questions in attack and on another day might have had a hatful of goals with Jamie Cox, Ross Jones, Paul Cox and Daniel Pollard all going close. Tommy Burton battled well and scored a typical goal whilst player-of-the-match went to the hard working Daniel Roberts.

After a three-week break Biotec sponsored New Street Under-10's looked a little ring rusty when losing 7-2 away to a much improved Winklebury side in the PHYL small-sided kgames. Street improved as the game went on but were thwarted on numerous occasions by a brilliant display by the home 'keeper. Luke Warren and Paul Szekeres picked up the player-of-the-match awards and the Street scorers were Tom Appleton and Ben Charlesworth.
