VICTORY was not good enough for TVAC match secretary Cliff Carbis in the final round of the Club Championship on Embley.

Although he won, he just failed to secure the club championship which went to John Clark. Fourth place for Clark on the day was enough to tie the championship on points - and he got the verdict on weight advantage.

Carbis fished a mixture of maggot and pellet to take 10lb 1oz of skimmers and roach on the waggler from the swim by the overflow to score a comfortable victory, almost double the weight of his nearest rival.

Alan Hillman finished second with 5lb 4oz of roach on the waggler and maggot with Andy West continuing a good run on Embley in third place with 3lb 5oz.

Others J Clark 3lb 11oz, J Clemenson 3lb 8oz, S Vine 3lb 4oz. Final Championship points: J Clark 220 (187lb 10oz), C Carbis 220 (159lb 6oz), A Hillman 201.5, A Palmer 199.5.
