A 15-YEAR-OLD youth remains in a serious condition after a high-speed car chase through Hamp-shire ended in a collision.

The youth, a passenger in a stolen car, suffered head injuries in the crash, but is out of intensive care at Southampton General Hospital.

The 20-minute police chase ended in Hursley, near Winchester, when the stolen Montego Estate was in a head-on collision with a Rover 214, while overtaking, and then went into a wall.

The 19-year-old driver, who has also not been named, has now been released from hospital.

Police are still keen to speak to any witnesses to the chase which began near WestQuay shopping centre at 11.20am last Saturday and went through the city to Romsey, Ampfield and out towards Winchester.

The Montego originally contained five people but three were let out near Ampfield moments before the chase came to a sudden end in Hursley. The two occupants in the Rover 214 suffered cuts and bruises.

Sergeant Tim Ashman from Winchester traffic said: "There must be a lot of people who saw it that can help our investigations."
