A SEARCH team including divers and dog-handlers are trying to track down a man missing since August.
Scrubland in Fareham is being searched today as police try to find David Ellis, of Redlands Lane, who was reported missing in September.
Mr Ellis, 54, was a keen rambler but had problems with memory loss and it is feared he may have suffered an accident while out walking.
Detective Constable Neil Cunningham of Fareham CID said Mr Ellis's house had been left as if he had just popped out and fears for his safety had grown as time went on.
"We are now very concerned about Mr Ellis because of the length of time since his disappearance without contact."
Ten officers were set to search copses and scrubland including The Gillies and Fort Fareham, with a naval diver helping the team.
Mr Ellis is described as 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and with grey thinning hair. Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw him before or since his disappearance. Anyone with information can contact Fareham CID on 0845 045 4545.
