Southampton II shared a 2-2 draw with New Milton ladies.

They took the lead through Nicky Le Bas, cancelled out when the Southampton goalkeeper was adjudged to have played the player before the ball, and the penalty stroke was converted.

Southampton moved back in front when Le Bas made a 50-yard run before slipping the ball inside to Suzanne Quinton to hit a first-time shot past the keeper.

But late pressure from New Milton resulted in a short corner, from which the New Forest outfit equalised.

The thirds dominated their match with Romsey but failed to capitalise and lost out by the odd goal.

The fifth team's opposition, Gosport, were forced to field an inexperienced side so that they could meet their national cup commitments at under-15 level.

Southampton took advantage with an 11-0 victory, thanks to five goals from Amy Watson, three from Anna Skelton, plus one from debut-making Helen Carter, birthday girl Mary Aitken, and skipper Sian Glaze.

Chris Stokes fired in a hat-trick as Fleet were dispatched 6-1, despite the Southampton side arriving late for the game and missing their warm-up.

Matt Mayes, Eric Holt and Pete Graham were the other scorers, while goalkeeper Paul Howarth pulled off a penalty save late in the game.

Southampton thirds pushed leaders Havant all the way before losing 4-2. Rob Sparrow scored and Dave Holt despatched a fine short corner for a 2-1 interval lead. And they even had a penalty flick disallowed for incorrect feet placement before Havant rallied with a late comeback.

Southampton fourths kept themselves in contention in their league with a 4 - 1 victory over Winchester.

Sam Gibbs handed in his defender's stick for the day to take up a striker's role and score two early goals. Colin Langridge added the third and skipper Mike Gillingham the fourth before Winchester netted a late consolation effort.

Stuart Veal and Adam Knight were on target in a 4-2 defeat to Hamble, the masters were denied a draw against Guildford through a late penalty stroke - Bill Stokes claiming the Southampton goal - and Martin Woods banged in three goals for the senior vets in a 7-4 success against Havant - Pete Terry (2), Eddie Fisher and Andy Church being the other scorers.

The Otters were disappointed to lose 1-0 to Basingstoke Brewers after exhibiting excellent teamwork and personal skills.
