THE West End Singers have been on a transatlantic mission to strengthen the links between sister communities of Eastleigh and Temple Terrace, Florida.

The choir was accompanied by the Eastleigh mayor and mayoress, Councillor and Mrs Peter Humphreys.

During their stay the songsters were able to renew friendships forged through previous twinning visits and singing.

The West End Singers' programme included singing in Busch Gardens and giving a concert in Temple Terrace.

But you will not need to travel across the Atlantic to tune into the West End Singers.

They will be performing at The Point Theatre, Eastleigh in Christmas and All That Jazz on December 1 and 2 with special guests, The Utrechts Jazz Orkest (UJO) from the Netherlands.

It is the UJO's second visit to Eastleigh.

They performed with the West End Singers in June 1999 and were so popular that they have been invited back.

Publicity secretary Angela Jackson says the UJO are desperately looking for someone to help with sponsorship.

And she has been writing to Anglo-Dutch companies in the area to see if they can help.

But anyone else who can help is asked to ring Angela on 023 8025 3428.
