SAINTS fans are being offered the chance to make their mark on their own piece of the club's new stadium.

Supporters can buy bricks and paving slabs engraved with their own special messages, which will form part of a walkway and a wall at the new ground in Northam.

And young Saints fan Elizabeth Mills was thrilled to become the first person to have a paving slab engraved.

Saints chairman Rupert Lowe presented the 11-year-old, who is terminally ill with cancer, with her paving slab carrying the message "Elizabeth Mills, Saints' No. 1 Supporter 2001".

Elizabeth, from East Cowes on the Isle of Wight, said: "I was really pleased. I've been a Saints fan a long time and I've been to see them play."

Saints visitor centre manager Katie Hamilton said: "We have just started our Sale of the Dell campaign, and one of the first things we're doing is offering people the chance to buy pavers and bricks engraved with their own messages. People who have been Saints fans for a long time can have their own inscription put on a brick or paver, or perhaps people can have an inscription as a memorial for someone who has died.

"We are just organising it to give the opportunity to the fans to have their piece of the new stadium."

She said the idea follows the trend started by Aston Villa's new stadium and the millennium stadium, where people can pay to have inscribed bricks and paving slabs.

Saints fans can pay £50 to have one of 10,000 pavers engraved, or £30 for one of 10,000 bricks.

Katie said: "The walkway will be just outside the main entrance to the stadium in the east stand, and we're creating the Saints Wonder Wall for the bricks. The bricks will be slotted into the walls on each side of the stadium, and once we know how many engraved ones we've got, a design will be created."

She added: "We handed out leaflets and booking forms at the turnstiles at the Chelsea game on Saturday, and we've had a really big response so far - we've had 200 in already."
