Richard Watts could have been forgiven for blowing a fuse as Southampton Men's first team slumped to a 2-2 draw with Weymouth despite leading 2-0.

Watts twice converted Rhobet Willams' crosses against the high-fliers but Weymouth found their way back into the game when Southampton skipper Ben Finch pulled a hamstring and left the pitch.

Coach Steve Godwin seeks a "quick fix" remedy for beleaguered Fareham, whose visit to South Premier League champions Purley could hardly have come at a worse time.

Fareham had the stuffing knocked out of them twice in the space of 24 hours.

They never recovered from conceding an early short-corner goal and crashed to a 4-0 SPL defeat against Wimbledon.

And they then collapsed 5-0 to National Premier League club Old Loughtonians at Chigwell - and out of the EHA Cup - all the goals coming in the first half.

"We played quite well after the break," quipped the ever-cheerful Fareham coach.

James Wise bagged the only goal of the game for the sixths as they edged out Salisbury Swifts 1-0, while the senior vets defeated Newbury 1-0 with Martin Wood claiming the only goal.

Chichester maintained their fine record against the masters as they won 3-1 with Paul Meacher scoring for Southampton for the third week running, as the Otters lost 3-0 to Ryde.

Hamble firsts defeated Ryde 7-0 with goals from M Wakefield (2), D Kelly (2), D Foster, M Heaver and a drag flick by P Barber.

Aldershot got the better of the seconds 3-1, the thirds defeated the fourths 3-1 and the Under-12s lost 2-0 to COP.

Old Edwardians first team defeated Chichester Hospital thanks to Fenton and Treagus and the seconds beat Alton 3-1 with a Hansford hat-trick.

In a tight match on Sunday, Southampton's men's first team moved into the next round of the national trophy with a 1-0 win over Phoenix and Ranaleigh with Gary Watts scoring.

At under-12 level, the boys lost out 3-1 to Fareham with Josh Lambert netting for Southampton, the under-16s went down 2-0 to Aldershot while the mixed team lost 5-1 at Wimborne.
