THIS is the sort of exhibition that most children will enjoy.

Toys and games from the past will be on display at the Historic Resources Centre in Winchester for the next four months.

The city council museums service has gathered items from its collection and put them on display.

They include early 19th century dolls including an 1830s French wax doll, a 1930s teddy bear, 1960s model cars and modern toys to show children their historical context.

The exhibition also includes 19th and early 20th century photographs to show how children enjoyed their toys.

Quizzes and interactive displays encourage older children to discover a sense of continuity with the past and a toy trail helps children look for links between old and new. For the youngest there is a play area.

It will be at the Historic Resource Centre in Hyde Street, Hyde, and runs until March 23, from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
