PROSPECTS look brighter for Eastleigh construction group EBC with chairman Bob Carlton-Porter in confident mood, despite a loss of £954,000 on the first six months of its business year.
But sales are up 20 per cent, and according to Mr Carlton-Porter cash balances remain healthy.
He said: "Profits have been affected by the disappointing performance of the Reading building company N R Humphreys but such is the board's confidence in our plans for the future, it has decided to increase the interim dividend by eight per cent to 1.4p per share.''
Incoming chief executive Garvis Snook has restructured the company with plans to reduce overheads, recruit new senior managers and concentrate on core activities.
Mr Carlton-Porter said losses at Humphreys had been stemmed and would be in profit at the end of the year.
