MEMBERS of a Warsash working men's club are getting set for a massive cancer charity fund-raising day next month.
Members of the Salterns Club are staging a series of events at their club in Newtown Road on September 2 to raise funds for cancer research.
John Hoff, a member of the entertainments committee, said snooker, darts, a horse race night, a sponsored head shave and a draw were among planned events. With two other members, Brian Nally and Gordon Osman, Mr Hoff is having his head shaved by ladies from the local Herr Kutz men's hairdressing salon to boost funds.
Mr Hoff, who lost his wife through breast cancer three years ago, said other club members had suffered in some way through cancer, so it had been decided to raise money for research into the illness.
