THOUSANDS of people lined the streets for Romsey's annual carnival procession and watched the spectacle of 25 floats driving past to the tune of marching bands.

Amazingly, despite the downpours that hit other areas of Hampshire on the day, spectators and participants managed to stay completely dry for the whole event.

The floats, which were interspersed with nine pedestrian entries, set off for a two-hour procession from Romsey Industrial estate at 6.30pm on Saturday.

The Isle of White Medina Marching Band led them.

Later Romsey Old Cadets later entertained the crowds in the market place.
