Lymington looked like a mini version of Hollywood as residents saluted the world of showbiz.

Many of the people who took part in the annual carnival procession on Saturday evening were dressed as stars of stage and screen.

A float entered by Lymington Chamber of Commerce included a slick tribute to the musical Grease.

The equally popular Paint Your Wagon was represented by a small cart pulled by a 29-year-old pony called Sunbeam.

Sunbeam was surrounded by people wearing colourful cowboy outfits.

Wagonmaster Albert Mundy, 84, was joined by his daughter, Lynda Leen, his grand- daughter six-year-old Victoria, Rachel Bull, seven, and Rebecca Libby, 11.

Meanwhile a group of Lymington schoolgirls dressed as characters from the hit musical Cats provided plenty of feline fun.

The float was inspired by Stephanie Lopez, nine, whose mother Michaela made the costumes.

Elsewhere in the parade Carla Foot, 14, paid her own special tribute to Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe.

Amy Lester, 14, appeared as Little Bo Peep, and fellow teenager Paul Knappett was dressed as Bert, the cheerful chimney sweep from Mary Poppins.

Joe Hurst, 75, donned a green dress and an orange wig to portray one of the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella.

A float entered by Lymington and Pennington Town Council comprised a small dinghy sailing on a sea of flowers.

Sitting at the stern was the carnival queen, Becky Crabtree, 23.

She was joined in the procession by carnival princess Stephanie Lowe, eight, and the carnival prince, 11-year-old Gareth Nash.
