A SOUTHAMPTON MP has planted a tree to celebrate a city inter-church trust.
Itchen MP John Denham launched the community project in Bitterne, which involves four of the area's churches.
Participants are raising money to provide trees and benches for the community on a reclaimed area of land known as the Sandpit, at Angel Crescent, off Maybray King Way, Bitterne.
Mr Denham said: "I am very pleased to be involved in the opening ceremony of this community project for the millennium year and I wish the inter-church trust well with its on-going programme."
