A NEW bride has launched a desperate bid to find her husband after he vanished in the night.

The last time Caroline Phillips saw Stuart, her husband of just five months, was when he was tucked up in bed next to her a week ago - but when she woke up he had vanished.

Heartbroken Caroline is hoping a poster campaign will help track down her husband, who disappeared without any note or explanation.

Caroline, 33, said: "I just want Stuart back home. He left completely out of the blue. I had no idea he was about to leave and have no idea why.

Stuart disappeared with a small amount of cash but without a change of clothes, from the Southampton home the couple had lived in for only a week.

"All I want is a phone call to let me know he is all right even if he doesn't want to come home. I am not coping without him. I last saw him on Wednesday night and when I woke up he had gone.

"I am putting up posters in all the local shops in the hope that someone may have seen him. I am convinced Stuart is still in the Southampton area.

"I have tried to contact all his friends and have known him for over a year so I would know if he had someone else. I just don't know where he is."

Unemployed Mr Phillips vanished from the couple's home in Howard Road, Shirley. The 27-year-old was born in Sheffield but had lived in the South since the early 1990s, living in Northam until recently.

Today Inspector Steve Latham, of Shirley police, said inquiries into Stuart's disappearance were continuing.

"There is no indication he is particularly at risk but he has been recorded as a missing person and we would like to hear from him just to know he is all right," he added.

Stuart is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, of stocky build, with short blond curly hair and a tubby face.

He was last seen wearing a black bomber jacket, black T-shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

Anyone with information about Stuart's whereabouts is urged to contact Shirley police on 01703 335444.
