BARBARA LARGE, independent governor at Southampton Institute, plays a key role in the three day London Book Fair at Olympia this week.

Mrs Large led a seminar yesterday on Self-Publishing and Marketing your Book, sponsored by Redwood Books, and today is chairing the panel, How Do I Publish my Books - Your Questions Answered.

Both the seminar and panel are in association with the 20th Annual Writers' Conference, of which Mrs Large is director. It takes place in June at King Alfred's College. The seminar is centred on a discussion of the research, organisation and editorial presentation of manuscripts, design and layout, as well as the various techniques of production and marketing.

"The purpose of these two events is to help authors develop a manuscript, organise the printing and provide a product that will meet the demands of the market place,'' said Mrs Large.

"With the introduction of digital printing, it is now possible for authors to have their books printed in short runs.''
