NOTORIOUS gangland killer Reggie Kray is on a week-long visit to the Isle of Wight, to see his sick brother.

The 66-year-old Kray twin is staying at Parkhurst prison while he visits older brother Charlie, a patient at St Mary's Hospital.

Charlie Kray, 73, was rushed to hospital last week after suffering chest pains, and his condition is so serious that this may be the last time the pair see each other. The last time they were together was in 1995, at the funeral of Ronnie Kray.

Reggie spent nearly an hour with his brother yesterday and seemed calm and collected for his visit. He appeared to share a joke with guards as he returned to the prison.

He was brought to the Island from Wayland Prison, Norfolk, on Saturday.

Staff and visitors at the hospital seemed bemused by the appearance of one of Britain's most infamous former underworld bosses.

"You don't expect to see a Kray twin when you are hospital visiting on a Sunday,'' said one startled visitor.

The former Parkhurst inmate is expected to stay at the Island jail for the rest of the week, as his brother is in a serious condition.

Charlie Kray is serving 12 years for his part in a £39 million cocaine smuggling plot but was moved across to the nearby hospital from Parkhurst's health unit last week.

He is described as "a real gent'' by Parkhurst sources and last month donated his week's prison wages to an autism support group on the Island.
