TOP dogs from all over the country converged on Hampshire over the weekend as Southampton and District Canine Association staged its own version of Cruft's.

Canine competitors came from as far afield as the Midlands, and leading judges from Scotland, for the popular two-day open show held at Netley's Royal Victoria Country Park.

Nearly 1,600 dogs representing about 115 different breeds, from toy poodles to rottweilers, were put through their paces.

There were 475 classes and a chance for the best dogs and their owners to snap up some 200 glittering trophies.

With temperatures threatening to soar, the cool breeze from Southampton Water made sure that there were no hot dogs.
