WAR veterans met at a special commemorative service to pay tribute to colleagues who left these shores for the D-Day landings, 55 years ago.
Mayor of Fareham Roger Price, attended the ceremony at the war memorial in Warsash - the point of departure for allied troops involved in Operation Overlord.
Canadian troops joined British forces who set sail from HMS Tormentor in 1944 to begin the assault which marked the beginning of the end of the war.
A representative from Caen, the first French town to be liberated from the Germans, was also present.
After the ceremony guests visited an exhibition of photographs and other D-Day memorabilia.
