An excellent line-up of national categories will provide a great day's motor racing at Thruxton on Sunday, with single-seaters, Clubmans, BMWs and sports/saloon races all on the programme.

Making a rare appearance at Thruxton are competitors in the BARC Wales/WRDA Welsh Sports and Saloon Car Championship. Designed to be a catch-all series for the widest possible variety of car. The series is based at the Pembrey circuit in west Wales but also makes the occasional foray over the Severn Bridge to other venues.

Now, it comes to Thruxton and a fantastic grid has been assembled as drivers from all over the country take the chance to race at the fastest track in Britain. A virtually full grid will include a big range of racing saloon cars, but it is the sports-prototypes and GT cars that will set the pace.

Andover's Steve Jones has one of the later Radical SR3 models but likely to attract the most interest is the newly-acquired Opel America Star V8 of Salisbury's Nigel Mustill. This purpose-built racing saloon has been imported from the V8 Star series in Germany and is set for its UK debut at Thruxton.

Back after a six-week break is the Fuelforce Classic Clubmans Championship for sports-racing cars from pre-1980.

Other excellent grids are guaranteed for rounds of the Universal Racing Services Classic Formula Ford 2000 and Ford 1600 Championship and completing an excellent programme are the Formula Renault BARC, the Kumho BMW and the BARC Westfield Sportscar Championships.
