THE story is a Roald Dahl classic enjoyed by millions of youngsters around the world.
However, the children of Sarisbury Junior School, Fareham loved the tale of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so much they decided to act it out in front of a packed school hall.
They had it all, from a Willy Wonka to the Oompa Loompas and even a chocolate river as more than 100 children took to the stage.
Head teacher Andy Stockton said: "It was a great production to put on and it kept the pupils focused during the last few weeks of term. Children from Years 3 to 6 took part and they put it together at their after-school clubs and at weekends. They way they brought it together was superb."
Youngsters only started rehearsing the show after the half term but managed to remember all their words in just a month.
"We had all the parents and staff getting behind the project, creating props and costumes. We had a choir and the pupils learned new songs and dances. It was a lot of hard work but we were proud of the result," Mr Stockton said.
