Jason Murray shot a three-under-par 68 to win the lucrative Army Golf Club Pro-Am, sponsored by the Thatchers Golf Society.

The Pine Ridge professional finished one shot ahead of South Winchester's Jon Barnes (69) with Neil Reilly and Russell Tate sharing third place after level par rounds of 71. Murray also led his team of Johnny Foster, Chris Foster and Tony Ryder to victory in the Pro-Am with a thirteen-under-par score of 129. They pushed Neil Reilly's team of Terry Drake, Ken Dent and Martin Sabey into second place after a countback, with Ian Warwick's team of Dave Cross, Tom Cross and Eric Cross in third. In all fourteen of the thirty-seven competing teams won prizes.

The major sponsor for the Tournament was the Thatcher's Golf Society and the event was organised by Ian Walton, Graham Cowley and Dick Smith.
