No wonder he's looking happy !

Jez Ord has just engineered a miraculous Southern Electric Cup semi-final win for BAT Sports over Portsmouth at The Quarters, Hursley.

The cup holders were heading out of the competition when Ord came in, with BAT reeling at 56-7 in reply to Portsmouth's 101-9. But Ord, who had earlier taken 3-20 - plus a fine boundary catch, hit an unbeaten 28 to see BAT home by two wickets.

BAT had needed 11 from Paul Ancell's final over and won off the penultimate ball of the match.

Runs were at a premium - the low scoring being primarily due to poor batting on both sides - with Lee Savident (22) top-scoring in Portsmouth's 101-9 (James Hibberd 3-20).

Gary Christie (3-18) did the initial damage for Portsmouth, with Pete Hayward (2-22) and Ancell (2-36) reducing BAT to 72-8 before Ord turned the game on its head.

BAT Sports play Bournemouth in the Southern Electric Cup final at the Hampshire Rose Bowl next Wednesday (July 27) at 5.45pm.
