Sir.-On Sunday, July 10, I was struck by the efforts which the Odiham town centre manager and his small but dedicated band of volunteers had gone to, to put out the flags to celebrate Victory in Europe in 1945.
The display was most moving, particularly as both the Indian and Chinese restaurants had identified with the occasion and wished to be part of the community in which they trade.
It was sad, however, that some businesses could not find a way to commemorate an important moment in our heritage.
